Life is hard…for someone accustomed to a social life ;) *sniff* *sniff*. I wish I was so yummy & delicious like Sarah, and had her ‘very little going out’ social life!

There was an article about the young 31yr old owner of the Wing Fop Fung in Monterey Park, read the Google cache text here, lol he’s down to working 12hrs/day 7days/wk, want to marry a well-to-do dull Chinese boy Sarah, no fun, but financially secure…party time when he retires…in another decade or two!:

Yeah, Kang is over there in the corner of the store with all of the wines (at least he was when I picked up my order of takeout dim sum from Capitol Seafood next door-restaurant section, not the little takeout store between the two businesses), yet another wine weenie - no time to be a foodie ;)

Sarah said: under the entry title Michi-How We Define “Social Life”:

"There are also more immediate things that can affect one’s social life on a day-to-day basis. Availability of friends and/or dates, current cash flow, personal schedule, recent positive restaurant reviews, and perhaps a post on Perez Hilton of where the celebs are hanging out can all determine with whom you interact, the nature of activities, how often you socialize, and where such social activities take place. These factors are normal. For normal people."

Yes from your 'normality' perspective, I suppose not going out 5-7nights a week like Paris, and “only” going out on awesome guy dates or with friends 3-4 nights a week constitutes ‘very little going out’ such that you would want to whine about having no social life…hehe (am I making fun of Sarah, being snarky? Why I never ;-)...never rant & rave or whine like that when I send PM's that she ignores...kindred spirits, if only in that respect..pot & kettle together). There’s a world of other people out there who would, could; only dream to have your ‘very little going out’ social life. My Chinese-American hottie neighbor-I call her the Paris of the ‘hood, cause she’s spoiled rotten by both her good looks and her parents pampering that makes her almost as immature even though she's older than Sarah, whether she’s with b/f's (most of the time) or in between b/f’s (current one just moved into her place, bedded the babe so fast I only noticed the change of cars as she got into his, when he started taking her out to dinner virtually every night, after dumping her prior b/f in a matter of just 2 weeks…Daaamn!!!, if only I could woo and romance Sarah so fast, but alas I’m not awesome *sniff* *sniff* ;)

Yeah, you are not quite an ultra hottie, don’t have guys to the left and right totally enamored with just the mere look of your flawlessly perfect smile like she has…but you’re not that far removed, even if you don't realize it.

The rest of us can only be so jealous or envious- and like you said before, live life vicariously through your actual ‘social’ life via the DL. My great grandmother; immigrated from the Canton region of China to Hawaii in the 1800’s, she worked in the rice fields, hand no skills, had calloused mangled hands...so my mother says; married a guy with a skill, a tailor- and then they both moved to Hawaii to flee famines of the era, rumors of cannibalism in that part of China when things got bad. Things aren’t so great in N. Korea today, if you believe the stories.

LOL Sarah. I think you have a very skewed perspective, narrow range of view amongst the whole of humanity, or even just average ‘Americana’. LMAO, it’s certainly much more of a “a swingin' single, post-grad student.” life that you live. Not unlike the Sex in the City TV show characters ---not that I’ve ever paid enough attention, or watched an entire length rerun on our local Ch. 5, KTLA station, as the show runs right after the evening news that I also just kind of watch while surfing the net…while Sarah is usually on her swinging-single night-on-the-town escapades!LACheesemongerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12279652635036326123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10975313.post-1164728327517130422006-11-28T07:38:00.000-08:002006-11-28T07:38:00.000-08:002006-11-28T07:38:00.000-08:00I have similar criteria for determining my social ...I have similar criteria for determining my social life, with the only difference being that the first thing my car-phobic self asks about a place is "can I walk there?" and I know that's not so much your MO.

Which means that we will probably never cross paths, since there is much traffic to contend with between you and I. A barrier much more impermeable than distance alone. The first time, I loved everything about it- the food, the atmosphere, the service. I don't think they had a sushi bar back then, but maybe I'm wrong. The second time, I took my parents there, and somehow it wasn't as awesome. It was good, but it wasn't as special as the first time. I haven't been back since (yes, the parking is a pain in Manhattan Beach) but I'd be willing to eat there again if I were in the area.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10975313.post-1164618832820013272006-11-27T01:13:00.000-08:002006-11-27T01:13:00.000-08:002006-11-27T01:13:00.000-08:00grace: hm. reading through my post, i think you're...grace: hm. reading through my post, i think you're right! it does sound like i made up my mind about michi before! however, i guess i should have a disclaimer that say that as much as i do rant about driving, traffic, etc., they are all put away once i get to a restaurant. by the same token, though, i also pay attention to lots of things that other people might not take into account when making up their minds about a restaurant. for me, it really is not JUST the food. everything from how convenient it is to park (because that can affect the mood of an evening, at least for me), to the hostess' greeting, to what the space feels like...they all contribute to the experience. the food is, no doubt, the most important part, and i don't think i said michi's food was bad. in fact, i'm inclined to say that the food was better than the venue, but still, it was nothing worth driving out of my way for.

hope that doesn't make me sound any worse! :)sarahhttp://thedeliciouslife.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10975313.post-1164618756018383992006-11-27T01:12:00.000-08:002006-11-27T01:12:00.000-08:002006-11-27T01:12:00.000-08:00Weird.
