Skip, Skip, Skip to My Lou...Gridskipper's 2005 Urban Blogging Awards

This is seriously weird. Tres cool, but still weird.
I am sort of a freak because I check on my blog's stats pretty convulsively, and no, I don't mean compulsively. I really do mean convulsively, because if you saw me sitting here hunched over my laptop pecking at the F5 key to refresh and giggling like a mad monkey, you'd think I was going through convulsions. LOL! I don't know why, but I get this strange rush watching the graph of pageloads overlaid with unique visitors overlaid with returning visitors grow gradually hour upon hour over the course of the day. And yes, I do get very excited when the number of visitors goes from 4 to 6 because you and you are reading this right now! *chuckle*
Of course, it wasn't always like this. I just think the whole obsessive/compulsive-about-food disorder has gotten worse since my contribution to the national unemployment statistics. I have nothing else to do during the day right now. Maybe I should get out of the house more often. But then I have to get a sitter for my ladle and whisk and...*whoa* Someone get me out of this house. Now.
Anyway, so whilst checking the stats, I saw that many a folk ("many" meaning something like two) were linking over here from gridskipper. I will admit this right now - I think I might have heard of gridskipper before and might even have linked to a few of their posts, but I hadn't really spent much time there because gridskipper is an "urban travel blog," and up until about a month ago, I didn't travel. Well, I didn't travel much beyond a one-day's driving distance from my little urban La La Land.
And there is The Delicious Life nominated for an Urb! The Delicious Life has been nominated for gridskipper's 2005 Best Urban Food Blog! I was sort of puzzled because the other nominees are very well known and very prestigious, and there was little Delicious me. Very humbling and quite an honor to be amongst the likes of Chez Pim out of San Francisco, he who takes some of the most breathtaking food photos Chubby Hubby, the super gran madame of LA chow Eating LA, New York's mega-pizza blog Slice, and even my favorite local foodie friends over at la.foodblogging.
Okay, 'fess up! Who rigged the nominations?!? I looked back through the week, and The DL wasn't even on the original list of nominees, which is also a very impressive buffet of food blogs. Weird. Sweet, but still weird :) I don't stand a chance against the big fish, but it's still quite fun to see this blog's name up there with them.
If you've got a moment, head on over to gridskipper to vote, and if nothing else, you can check out the nominees for the world's sexiest urban blogger (sexy? what the fu...?)
And don't worry, I won't be horribly offended if you don't vote for me. Just know that you'll be taking away a chance for me to get all dressed up for the Joan and Melissa covered red-carpet awards ceremony. I really need a reason to take a shower every once in a while, you know.
LOL! (Just kidding about the awards ceremony, but don't ask me about the showering part).

Hi Sarah,
Even more accolades! I am definitely not surprised. You're doing such a great job here!
Good luck to you!
hell yeah, Sarah! Congrats. You totally deserve it. Besides, you think Tyler Florence would be seen with anyone who's NOT nomineed for best urban food blogger :P

Sarah +1 FOR THE WIN! lol.
Make it 50 for DL, moving up quickly! You're keeping an amazing pace...I don't have time to keep up at this point in the year, but who's complaining about too much deliciousness?
Congratulations on your flying success, just mind over matter and, apparently only illegal drugs, as you specifically denied using legal ones.;)
Seriously cool!
For a split second, I thought, hmmm, I wonder if there's a category for living-in-the-middle-of-nowhere food blogs and then remembered these were the Urbs. (Next year, I'll be creating the Webboonies. :-))
Best of luck to you!
awww... thanks guys! being nominated is nice and all but it's your comments that make me *blush*
we'll see what happens. methinks the thing IS rigged to split l.a.'s votes amongst three blogs, lol!
and mrs. d...i think we should write gridskipper and ask them to add a category to the Urbs specifically for the most hilarious NON urban blog :) that's you and the chopper, you know, almost eating penguins. LOLLLL! (j/k )
Oh, I voted for you!
Your trip to Chicago was so nostalgic for me. I lived there for 5 years and reading your posts reminds me of all the great food (and not so food) related experiences I had. And I'm going back in march so I'm taking notes off your posts (hope you don't mind ;-)
sarah,
i'm wearing my "i voted" sticker. and guess who i voted for...
(don't blame me i voted for kerry and sarah!)
